Hi! K from K’s Good Eats recommended your page for some new song ideas for my half marathon next weekend, and your list is great! Thanks for the ideas, can’t wait to read more from your blog!
Thanks Michelle and thanks K! I do love music, I have playlist and music categories for more ideas also. I will be checking out your blog soon!

Holy huge list of music. Great resource!
Question: do you use music in a specific tempo–to match your cadence stride-for-stride, beat-for-beat? Or do you mostly go for the overall vibe of the song?
Fun that you have 2 OK Go songs on your list–I did an interview with Dan, the drummer, just a little while back: http://www.hellasound.com/site/read/interview-with-ok-go-drummer-dan-konopka/ He’s a great guy.
Haha John, your question made me laugh. I do remember reading an article in runner’s world about the benefits of music while running and the perfect tempo for music. Personally, I need fast upbeat music when I run, but I don’t ever know or care about the exact tempo. For the elliptical and the rower, any music I love, regardless of tempo is fine. I love OKGO, they have a master the treadmill workout on itunes, that I love! So I listen to a lot of okgo, I will check out the interview!
I guess I’m a hopeless music dork–I know the exact BPM of the music I listen to when I pick it for running. Although there are some schools of (running) thought that really focus on stride rate and cadence to improve your running–ChiRunning in particular.
The Runner’s World article (in my opinion) got it dead wrong–they were suggesting music around the 120 bpm range, whereas most people stride between 140 and 180 times a minute.
I can tell you this much, with certainty: the Bee Gee’s song “Stayin’ Alive” is, ironically, the perfect BPM for doing CPR. I kid you not: http://www.webmd.com/heart/news/20081017/cpr-gives-stayin-alive-new-life
Hopefully that little tidbit never comes in handy for you.
i love your lists!!!!!!!! especially the one on the side>>> yeah girl talk!!!!!!!!!
yay for pump up music!
Just wanted to say this page is my go-to resource for running playlists — you really know how to pick out the best jams!
