Puerto Rico

85 and Sunny in early March?  Yup, I just returned from an amazing long weekend in Puerto Rico.  My second trip confirmed how much I love this particular US territory. It’s the perfect blend of city, culture and beach!

Definitely a great place for a destination wedding, which is why we were there!

We were staying at El Convento in Old San Juan. The hotel was very charming with the most amazing interior courtyard! It was formerly a convent, which may explain why most of the rooms had two twin beds ;).  The first day we hung out on the roof deck pool and enjoy a leisurely wine and cheese hour before heading to dinner at Marmalade

This is just a small sample of our meal.  Because we were a large group, they basically brought us two of everything on the menu.  It was a feast! It was pretty cool that they were also able to bring dairy free versions of each course to accommodate a dietary restriction in the group.

The next day, we decided to burn off some of our meal with a trip to the gym and a run along the sea. As it was the perfect beach day, we all went to Convento’s sister hotel La Concha to max and relax.

I wish I had taken more pictures of our days, but did I mention it was 85 degrees? We really had amazing weather!  The morning of the wedding a big wedding day swim around

The course is above!  Several people did the whole 1.2 miles plus a 5 mile run, others kayaked and ran. I decided to do about half the swim, maybe about .75 miles.  It was a pretty extreme wedding morning, but everyone had a great time.

The day flew from there and the wedding was beyond lovely.  We had a blast with the intimate group and it was over before I knew it.  Unfortunately, I partied a bit too hard to actually make the after party, but I had a great time anyways.

It was hard to return to reality, but I have another awesome wedding just 11 days away!

I better start unpacking before I lose motivation!

  2. Sounds like a blast! I’ve never been to PR and would love to get there sometime (soon!) Between Miami and San Diego I may have used up my warm weather “quota” for the season, though… :)

  4. Vacations are also needed to live happily. Vacations make our mind relaxed and boost energy for another assignments. but being on vacations, its quite tough to maintain proper diet because vacations are to enjoy and to do what we want to do.
