Friday Faves {4/6/18}

Hello Weekend!

This Friday is particularly fantastic because I’ll be in Barcelona when the post goes up!

Here are a few things I’m loving this week!

Leizl Jane’s 16 Minute HIIT Workout Ideas.  They are mostly do anywhere and also kind of obvious, but it’s a good reminder that a good workout doesn’t have to be long or involve lots of equipment.  I’ll have to do a powerwalk version for now!

New Classes at Mile High

My favorite “run club” has added a 45  minute strength class (with very small amounts of running) and I’m excited to check it out.  The running and meditation class also seems cool!

Fit-Spiration

Rachel Reaches is a really inspiring blog/journal about making changes and seeing results. I knew nothing about Beach Body before looking at her website, but I understand the appeal of working out at home yet having community support.

Fresh Mani

Mixing it up, I actually picked something with color, Ripe Guava!

Packing

I actually love packing! Almost as much as I hate unpacking!

I decided to go with my Tommy Hilfiger roller rather than my Lo and Sons bag, since I’ve found heavy bags on one side tend to bother my back. But the Lo and Sons is a great weekender bag!

Here’s what I’m bringing…

Workout and swim. I’m only bringing a few workout options since we aren’t staying in any hotels with a gym. Most of our activity will likely come from walking.

Tops, I brought a bunch of options (tanks, short and long sleeves) since it could be warm or cold, plus a couple of cardis.

Four dresses, two from Rent the Runway, one from Le Tote and one from Old Navy.  I’m most excited about the navy striped Rosie Pope! (The lighting in this room is terrible, we are changing it soon, but sorry for the dark photos!)

I’m always amazed at how much I can pack in this little suitcase, all you see above plus, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 cotton leggings, 1 pair jeans and the lulu allign tights, socks, bras, etc.

Plus some purses and jewelry! I rented the out of office “taco” bag! I’ve had the coach bag for years and never used it, but I wanted a small cross body for this trip, so I’ll try it out!

In my personal item, I’ll be bringing a few snacks, vitamins, make up, toiletries, chargers, books and a wrap.

Nom Nom Nom

While we are in Capri, I hope to eat at every place in this blog post. Yum!

Hopefully, I can share some highlights from my actual trip, not just my suitcase! Have a fabulous weekend.

Do you pack snacks for travel?

Long Weekend Packing

I’m all packed for my long weekend starting on Friday.  To say I’m excited wouldn’t be wrong.  I actually don’t mind packing; it’s unpacking that I loathe.

I was inspired to kick off packing by an article I saw on Laura’s blog. The article shows how to pack 30 outfits in your carry on. This girl has the exact same carry on as I do, and boy can does she make every inch count. It’s a Tommy Hilfiger suitcase from this collection that meets most airlines’ regulations for overhead luggage size.

I tend to love all posts related to packing. I guess I’m weird like that.  While I’m at it, this is a great video about in flight essentials.

The main thing I took from the article was to limit my color palette. This wasn’t hard since I wear mostly black and beige anyways. As trips go, this was an easy one to pack for, I really only need casual clothes and once nicer outfit for a dinner out.

Where I am going, the weather can be unpredictable, so I have lots of wraps and cardigans for layering.

  • Jeans (white house black market)
  •  Long sleeve patterned top (banana-similar)
  • Short sleeve striped top (gap)
  • Black turtleneck top (mexx)
  • 3/4 length gold polka dot sweatshirt (limited-similar)
  • Black wrap dress (WHBM similiar)
  • Black jumpsuit (easily by best buy of 2015-Banana- similar)
  • 2 cardigans in black and navy (similar)
  • wrap and infinity scarf both in shades of beige (similar)
  • Large tan bag (carry on 2) and small black bag/clutch

Workout Clothes (I’m being optimistic that I’ll be able to do something by then.)

  • 2 tops (new balance)
  • capris (new balance)
  • sports bra (under armour)
  • socks (adidas)
  • jacket (new balance-similar)

Make Up and Toiletries

I’m pretty basic with make up and toiletries.  The Naked on the Run palette is perfect for travel if I all I need is every day looks. I think everything else is self-explanatory.  If you want to know specific products, just let me know.

Shoes

Given the ankle situation, I’m keeping shoes simple–sneakers and flats. I’m hoping I can manage the wedges if I wear the jump suit. I always wear sneakers on board if I’m not bringing boots.  My best travel tip is to wear your heaviest/bulkiest stuff on board. I’ll probably also bring a jacket that I’ll wear to the airport.

All Packed

This suitcase does fit a ton.  The only things I snuck in that aren’t shown above are underwear, a bathing suit, 1 pair pjs and a tiny Tiffany pouch with a bracelet and necklace.

I’m a fan of rolling VS folding because I think it helps prevent wrinkles.

That should get me through 4 days no problem.

If you have any packing tips, I’d love to hear them!

Reach the Beach: Packed!

Tired of packing posts yet?  I actually find them pretty helpful.  I referred to Meghann’s when I started packing and then I received a helpful email from RTB and New Balance detailing everything I could possibly need-see below.  Packing was sort of relay in itself, Team Off Balance tagged teamed on who was bringing bigger items and random things, like coolers and headlamps!

THINGS TO BRING:

For safety (required): (Team Captain will provide the team (each van) with these items:

  • 2 flashlights
  • 4 reflective vests
  • 4 flashing lights – 2 per vest, front & back
  • Handbooks and Course Maps (one copy each for each van)

These are being provided by my fab teammates

Other tips/valuable things to bring:

  • GPS (teammate is bringing)
  • A cooler (teammate is bringing)
  • Energy bars, Gu and snacks
  • Extra rolls of toilet paper
  • CD’s (need to make one!)
  • Decorations for the van (washable window markers, Xmas lights, inflatable characters)
  • Newspaper to stuff in shoes to dry them (gonna hope for the best)
  • Batteries for Headlamps ?IMG_4534

What to pack:

For traveling on Thursday, before the race, in between legs and after the race:

• Warm up gear and comfortable footwear you will need in between legs.

• In addition, bring a sweatshirt of some sort, a couple of t-shirts (don’t forget you will get the race t-shirt as well), dry socks, a pair of sandals and a hat and gloves. (thanks to nb these are covered)

• Pack in a medium size bag with your sleeping bag separate instead of a big bag with the sleeping bag in it. (I just have a blanket)IMG_4540

What to wear during the race – in between running legs:

  • Medium bag
  • Sleeping bag
  • Warm Layers
  • 1 x Gore-Tex jacket with hood or equivalent (only if rain is forecast)

  • 1 x Hat and/or cap

  • 1 x comfortable shoes/sandals (that you will not run in)

The check list:

  • 1-2 pairs of running shoes

3 Plastic bags with one outfit per bag.  This will make it easy to find each outfit and to seal up stinky post-run clothes to keep the van fresh as a daisy.IMG_4537 IMG_4539 IMG_4532

First leg bag:
